General Notes

Note

Notes: * More information on the operation of the Brownell Yarn Twister in accession file. This was a specialty yarn twister used by Huyck Canada, Arnprior, Ontario to make 2 to 14 ply yarn to be used in " Pulp felts" . It was normal to make the higher ply yarns by, for example a 14 ply yarn would be made by twisting 7 strands of 2 ply yarn previously made by another twister. This machine also could make a 'core' yarn by twisting 5x2 ply yarns resulting in a 12 ply yarn. Yarn twist is varied by increasing or decreasing speed at which yarn is fed. The direction of twist is controlled by the direction of current flow to motor. Yarn packages are wound onto a bobbin having the following dimensions a. length of traverse; 203 mm b. diameter of bottom flange; 152mm c. Diameter of top flange; 152mm d.overall length of bobb; 225mm e. diameter of barrel; 54mm f. approximate weight of one bobbin; 0.75kg Status: OK Status By: Blades, Alexandra Status Date: 2010-06-03
