More than 550 terms are defined and most entries are accompanied by the French, German, Italian, Portugese, Spanish, and Swedish equivalents. The entries are cross-referenced to make it easy to find related definitions. Superb detail photographs show the appearance of both face and reverse of many textile techniques and clear diagrams demonstrate hos the appearance is created. Most of the 200 photographs in the book are of textiles from teh wide-ranging collections of the Royal Ontario Museum. The 120 diagrams of weaves were drawn by Dorothy Burnham. Notes refer readers to publications on particular topics and the literature cited will elad to more specific information on many aspects of textile studies.
