Unidentified weaver
Lennox & Addington Co.
Although woven in indigo blue wool on white cotton warp, the result is a woven coverlet
of dramatic impact.
The pattern/draft is a variation known as “Distant Beauty” (Burnham). Each block has a
large “wheel” at each corner with a [illegible] in the with a cross to the left block.
This fine example relates to two other coverlets in the ROM as documented by Dorothy
& Harold Burnham in Keep Me Warm One Night #309 and 319 also wheel variations.
The weaver has not been identified by name (yet) but was working in the Colebrook
community of Lennox and Addington County.
The two sections are well woven with a well-matched centre seam. Both ends are
turned and bound (no bottom fringe) – simple and basic in keeping with many 19 th c
weavers.
Condition: Excellent (very minor stain) – no wear.

This is a weaver who used excellent [illegible] to create dramatic impact. Unfortunately, I
was not able to identify the family in L+A who owned it.Collection
