Description

One panel of a red and white overshot coverlet. The piece is an early one dating from the 1840s. The Pattern is of special interest as it has the same elements as one of the earliest dated coverlets known from 1784 from New York. The `Stars` are an old design element found in coverlets of many ages. Made of natural white cotton and red wool, most likely home woven in Ontario.
