161 ChineseDescription
Chinese civil rank badge (buzi), circa 1900, featuring the crane, insignia of a first-rank civil official during the Qing Dynasty. The crane is depicted with outstretched wings, finely detailed white plumage, black tail feathers, and a red crown, standing upon a dark rocky outcrop above stylized waves. The embroidery incorporates peacock feather thread and metallic gold thread, creating a richly textured, shimmering gold ground. Stylized cloud scrolls in shades of indigo, blue, green, and coral surround the central figure, accompanied by a red sun disc. The lower portion features multicolored waves in blue, cream, and green, enclosed by an ornamental scrolling border. The vertical center opening indicates its placement on the front of an official's court robe.Made/Created
