Description

Chinese Mandarin's winter court hat, Qing Dynasty, featuring a rounded black crown with a luxurious seal fur brim and dense fringe of bright red glass beads cascading from the center. Surmounted by an ornate silver ninth-rank hat button mounted in a decorative metal fitting, the finial indicating the wearer's official rank within the Qing imperial hierarchy. The hat retains its traditional ceremonial form and is accompanied by its original fitted pigskin storage box.
