The plume features iridescent peacock feathers with a distinctive green, blue, and bronze eye pattern, gathered into a narrow stem wrapped in bright red silk thread. The fitted lacquer case is decorated with Chinese calligraphic characters and delicate floral and botanical motifs in contrasting pale colors. Traditionally worn as an ornament on Qing Dynasty official court hats, peacock feather plumes served as prestigious imperial distinctions awarded for meritorious service.
