Chinese peacock feather plume without the distinctive iridescent eye, accompanied by its original elongated storage case covered in faded blue patterned fabric. The plume consists of a dense arrangement of long, dark peacock feather strands with subtle bronze and green highlights, gathered into a narrow stem wrapped in bright red silk thread. The fitted case features rounded ends and a hinged lid secured with blue fabric loops and pale toggle fastenings. Traditionally worn as an ornament on Qing Dynasty official court hats, feather plumes were associated with imperial honors and distinctions. The protective case was designed to preserve the delicate feathers when not in use.
