Original blue cotton-covered fitted hat box of domed circular form, made to house a Chinese man’s summer court hat. The raised cylindrical compartment at the crown is impressed with the auspicious shou (longevity) symbol, with an additional projecting side compartment. The textile covering retains visible age-related wear and patina consistent with its late Qing Dynasty date.
