Bronze 20" statue of a Native American on horseback, by Frederic Remington, entitled "Cheyenne". Reproduction.
"Cheyenne" was an accomplishment in grace and fluidity that surpassed all other prior attempts to portray the horse in natural flight. First completed in 1901, was the first Remington sculpture to be cast in one piece. The idea was born out of Remington's desire to show a horse with all four feet off the ground in a realistic gallop. In 1906 the "lost wax" method of casting was used allowing major changes & details to be made to the sculpture.
