A combined collection of photographs documenting Carl Fisher and the Montauk Beach Development Corporation's development of Montauk during the 1920s and 1930s. Over 60 photographs depict the transformation of Montauk from wild pasture land and forest to Carl Fisher's vision of a Miami Beach of the North. Pictures include the Montauk Beach Development Corporation surveying the land, blasting through land to create Lake Montauk Inlet, construction progress photographs, and interior and exterior views of early Fisher buildings including the office building, Montauk Manor, the public school, and the yacht club.Archive Details
