A collection of scans and photocopies of photographs, maps, brochures, correspondence, maps, ephemera, and contracts relating to the Montauk Beach Development Corporation, the development of Montauk during the 1930s, and World War I occupation in Montauk. Photographs show Carl Fisher and company, buildings, yachts, aerial views, trains, planes, and dirigibles from World War I. Papers include Montauk Beach Development Corporation purchase stocks, stock certificates, telegrams, architectural renderings, and advertising in the Daily Mirror. Correspondence and maps relate to the creation of Lake Montauk Inlet, the channel dredging to Block Island Sound, and the construction of two jetties on each side of the channel.Archive Details
