Perry “Chip” Duryea III (b. 1949) is the former owner of the Lobster Deck restaurant and of Duryea’s lobster house, both on Montauk’s Fort Pond Bay. He worked alongside his father, Perry Duryea Jr., in a three-generation, family-run seafood business before transforming it into a popular restaurant. Chip Duryea’s father, Perry Duryea Jr., was an 18-year New York State assemblyman and six-year Assembly speaker who ran for governor in 1978. Perry Duryea III, who is a cancer survivor and source of support for cancer patients, has witnessed many changes in his hometown since he attended the Montauk School and learned to surf in the 1960s.
