Name/Title

Bricks from 1836 Davis/Dimock/Tabor/Hoare House

Entry/Object ID

2025.6.1

Description

Four bricks used for "nogging" (insulation in a wall cavity) in the 1836 Davis/Tabor/Hoare house near the confluence of the Stevens Branch and Winooski River in Montpelier, Vermont.

Context

The bricks were removed from the house when it was being deconstructed in August 2025. The building had been vacant for over a decade, was impacted by the 2023 flood, was deteriorating, and was ostensibly owned by a non-profit that had gone out of business without making provisions for ownership of the property.
