Description

"The Entombment" or "Burial of Christ" Three men carry Christ's bloodied body into the tomb. Mary Magdalene weeps at Christ's right hand. An oil sabbath lamp hangs in the upper left corner. Description from 1982 exhibition by Charlene Engel: "One of Haidt's simplest and yet most moving compositions--Haidt's treatment of the twisted, heavy body being lowered into the tomb is especially successful in emphasizing the tragedy Christ's followers are mourning with their tears."
