Description
A multicoloured wooden statue of Major General James Wolfe. The statue depicts Wolfe standing upright with his head held high, his right hand on his hip, and his left arm pointing to his left. His head is slightly turned to the left. Wolfe wears a black three-cornered hat and a braid hangs down his back. He wears a red coat with gold-coloured buttons, brown lapels and cuffs, and a white belt with a gold-coloured buckle. His left hand is bare and he wears a white glove on his right hand, which is holding holding the second glove. A dagger hangs from his belt on his left side. Finally, Wolfe wears black high boots with brown tops. The base on which he is standing is green with his name "M.G./JAMES WOLFE" carved in relief on the front and painted in gold. Decorative engravings are found above it. A metal hook on the back attaches the statue to the balustrade of the mezzanine. A deep rectangular hole can be seen on the back of the head; it was possibly used to secure the statue in place when it was originally outside, on a building on St. John's Street.
