The Chambered Nautilus

Name/Title

The Chambered Nautilus

Context

Part of a series of art created for North Milwaukee/Villard Library. According to the 8/9/1970 MJ, "[t]he art pieces have been added in three phases over the two years [since the North Milwaukee Library opened in July 1968]. This piece was created specifically for North Milwaukee Library. Mr. Lamers also designed the North Milwaukee library building while working with Burroughs and Van Lanen Architects. "The Chambered Nautilus is a seashell that reveals its total beauty when cut apart. The clear plastic resin into which it is cast has reflective qualities which enable the viewer to experience the inside and outside at once."
