Notes
The 7/23/1922 MJ describes Mancini's portrait of Sherburn Merrill as "a remarkable instance of portraiture accomplished by an inspired hand. The [??ne] face with its keen and yet smiling eyes, is fairly illuminated with personality." The article also says that Mrs. Merrill "was one of the earliest patrons of the famous Italian." See the accession record at 1890.1 for a copy of the article.
