Growth or InsightContext
Artist's explanation of the piece via e-mail dated 9/12/2009:
"The uppermost panels have superimposed abstract stacked book forms (this was way before computers changed the access to information)...
The vertical form was intended to represent growth in knowledge and understanding ...
The panels represent life stages and changing points of view gained through new information and ideas...
The Cor-Ten steel was also chosen, not only for its durability, but for its natural ability to change with its exposure to the elements and its increasing richness of color over time...
All in all, it was meant to convey the idea that individuals and communities grow through knowledge and insight gained through reading and all the information available at the library."Collection
