Wall hanging

Name/Title

Wall hanging

Context

Part of a series of art created for North Milwaukee/Villard Library. According to the 8/9/1970 MJ, "[t]he art pieces have been added in three phases over the two years [since the North Milwaukee Library opened in July 1968]. This piece was created specifically for North Milwaukee Library. Mr. Lamers also designed the North Milwaukee library building while working with Burroughs and Van Lanen Architects. See entry # 917 for background on the Villard/North Milwaukee art collection. From artists' statement dated August 3, 1970: "The leather hanging re-states the idea of the family of man growing together. It is fabricated of six layers of dyed suede and natural finish leather all in earth tones."
