Context

Part of a series of art created for North Milwaukee/Villard Library. According to the 8/9/1970 MJ, "[t]he art pieces have been added in three phases over the two years [since the North Milwaukee Library opened in July 1968]. This piece was created specifically for North Milwaukee Library. Mr. Lamers also designed the building while working with Burroughs and Van Lanen Architects. See entry # 917 for background on the Villard/North Milwaukee art collection. From statement of the artists dated August 3, 1970: "The other [wall hanging] speaks of man and his growth through knowledge. It is acrylic paint applied with palette knife to fabric and is done in a range of blues and purples."
