One of the most important historic Wisconsin women artists, Lucia Stern was an early proponent and national leader of non-objective art. The artist also helped shape a number of important Milwaukee art institutions, including the Milwaukee Art Museum and Marquette University Haggerty Museum of Art. Milwaukee Public Library holds many related materials, including a collection of Stern’s personal and artist papers.
