The Haggerty Museum of Art, Marquette University, also holds "a madonna painted in 1941 by the late Karl Priebe of Milwaukee, ... the only American artwork to receive the coveted Prix de Rome." Priebe was a friend of Frederick Muhs (the MPL Collection includes a portrait of Muhs by Priebe).
