In The Same River Twice, celebrated Milwaukee photographer Dick Blau meditates on the Milwaukee River, the architectural gems that line the Wisconsin Avenue corridor, and the interaction between Milwaukee’s natural and built environments.
As Blau explains, photos from the series “turn the familiar into the strange, challenging the imaginations of those who look at them and adding a sense of wonder and surprise to the everyday life of the city.” Like many of the series’ subjects, the Central Library has anchored the Wisconsin Avenue corridor as an architectural gem and wellspring of inspiration and connection for more than 125 years.
