Label from 2014.Art for Social Change: Sadman epitomizes the utter hopelessness of the many men who were unemployed, destitute, and unable to provide for their families during the Depression. Flint worked for the Cleveland branch of the WPA/FAP from 1936-1941. Executive secretary of the Cleveland Artists' Union and a member of the American Artists' Congress, he may also have been a member of the Communist party.
