2024 post:
Throughout 2024, we're looking back at the 100 year history of art at the Mulvane. This 1990 drawing is by Kansas artist Elizabeth "Grandma" Layton. At 69, she took an art class at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. Over the next 15 years, she created hundreds of works that candidly explored personal subjects like her relationships, health struggles, hopes, and fears. "Aged to Perfection," a depiction of Layton and her husband Glenn, expresses her positive outlook on the process of becoming older.
