When humans look into a distance, lines that are parallel in nature, like floor tiles, appear to converge. This principle, called scientific perspective, was discovered in Florence, Italy, in the early 15th century. Perspective fascinated Renaissance artists, and many studied it. Vredeman de Vries was an internationally known expert in perspective.
