After graduating from Washburn, William Haney went on to earn an MFA from Indiana University in 1964. He then worked successfully as an artist, with exhibitions of his paintings shown across the country. His work is housed in numerous collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Butler Institute of American Art. He also taught art at institutions like the University of New Mexico, the Pratt Institute, New York University, and many others.
