Born in Topeka in 1891, Frank Peers attended Washburn College for two years before studying medicine at the University of Michigan. He served in the Harvard Ambulance Corps during World War I and worked with humanitarian organizations in Europe. He then turned his focus to art and architecture. Following his studies in painting and drawing in France, he settled in New York City and became a successful book illustrator for Macmillan Publishing Company.
