2024 post:
Throughout 2024, we're looking back at the 100 year history of art at the Mulvane. This painting made around 1930 came into the collection in 1943 as part of a gift from the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project. The WPA provided a source of employment for many artists during the difficult years of the Great Depression. This evocative watercolor by Lester Schwartz depicts a woman and two girls quietly gathered in a room. What do you think they could be waiting for?
