Faye Wattleton was the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America from 1978 to 1992. She was the first Black person and the first woman since Margaret Sanger to head the nation’s largest family planning agency. During the 1960s, she earned degrees in nursing, maternal and infant health care, and midwifery. In 1993, she was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame. She remains a determined advocate of reproductive rights and responsibilities.
