Born August 29, 1945, in Griffin, GA Wyomia Tyus was the first athlete to win a gold medal for the 100-meter race in two consecutive Olympics: the 1964 games in Tokyo and the 1968 games in Mexico City, where she set a new world record. As part of the United States 4 x 100-meter relay team, she also won a silver medal in 1964 and gold in 1968. Her autobiography, Tigerbelle: The Wyomia Tyus Story, was published in 2018.
