Gloria Scott received three degrees from Indiana University Bloomington, including a Ph.D. in higher education. In 1975, she became the first Black woman to be elected national president of the Girl Scouts. After serving in that position for three years, she joined and remains on the board of directors. She held several faculty and administrative positions at universities before serving as the president of Bennett College, a historically Black women’s college, from 1987 to 2001.
