Social activist Cora Lee Johnson was recognized by a national magazine as a “hero for hard times.” After she learned about government services available to low-income people through the Georgia Legal Services Group program, she pressured for— and achieved— changes, especially in housing, health, and nutrition. Johnson chaired the Treutlen County Client Council and the Rural Black Women’s Leadership Project.
