Born and trained in Great Britain, Rosser is today chair of the department of painting and printmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute. This lithographic print is one of a series of two-dimensional works which relate to a series of wooden sculptures that bear the same title, all done in the early 1990s. The works suggest mechanical (machine) and biomorphic (human) forms at the same time, as well as playing on the relationship between two and three dimensions in art.
