Throughout 2024, we're looking back at the 100 year history of art at the Mulvane. This 1956 painting by Marvin Cone presents a mysterious interior scene. At left sits an unsettling portrait of the artist's uncle, Ben Dorwat, who enjoyed frightening Cone when he was a child. The strange light and unusual viewpoint gives the work psychological intensity.
