This print depicts Pioneer Bluffs, a ranch in Chase County established in 1859 by Charles Rogler. The property’s main barn and Aermotor windmill are sketchily rendered in the background, but Sudlow’s focus is on a pair of trees clinging to the slope of a dirt ridge. Sparse foliage and an earthy palette lend the scene an autumnal quality.
