(from 2016.Klassics for Kids) David Driesbach American, b. 1922 St. Jerome and his Lion, 1963 etching Driesbach was influenced by Renaissance printmaking. For example, his Renaissance style building to the right is drawn in perspective. According to legend, one day a lion walked into the monastery where the Early Christian Saint Jerome lived. The saint saw that the lion was suffering with a thorn in his paw, and he removed it. Later the lion helped St. Jerome by scaring away some burglars. Why are the two people in the background running away?
