Guild studied at Washburn University with Frances Davis Whittemore. She also studied with William Robbins at the Central School of Art in London, at which time she may have created this print. The title may refer not only to the mounted sentinel but also to the building, the Horse Guards, originally the home of the king’s household cavalry.
