2024 post:
Throughout 2024, we're looking back at the 100 year history of art at the Mulvane. This work is by Julian Stanczak. Born in Poland, Stanczak was forced into a Siberian labor camp during World War II, where he permanently lost the use of his right arm. He eventually retrained himself to write and paint with his left hand. After immigrating to the United States, he developed a distinct style of geometric abstraction and was one of the originators of the Op Art movement.
