This lady was probably intended to serve as a spirit companion for a wealthy person. She sits on a two-legged stool, holding a pumpkin (or pumpkin shaped ceramic vessel) on her right shoulder. She is naked, except for decorations below her knees, in her ears, and in her nose (piercing the septum and wearing jewelry in the nose was a common practice in the Nayarit province in ancient times). Her jewelry and hairdo mark her as a woman of prestige; her enlarged genitals probably relate to ideas of fertility and abundance, as does her corpulence.
