Throughout 2024, we're looking back at the 100 year history of art at the Mulvane. This 1969 painting pictures a woman reading in a sun-filled interior space. The artist, Robert Wright, studied in San Francisco; the influence of California painters like Richard Diebenkorn can be seen in the lyrical, abstracted figuration of "Woman Reading." Wright taught at the University of Kansas for over 35 years before retiring as Professor Emeritus in 1997.
