ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Harold 'Harry' Gordon Aikman Born at Grandview Manitoba on 26 June 1914 and worked at the Dauphin Photo Studio and freelanced local news assignments for the Winnipeg Tribune. He moved to Winnipeg and was hired as a Tribune photographer. During the Second World War he went overseas as a photographer for the Canadian Army Film and Photo Unit. Following the war, he returned to the Tribune and served as its Photo Editor until retirement. His photos won national awards and appeared around the world in such magazines as Life, Time and Weekend. In 1949, he served as President of the Winnipeg Press Club. He died at Winnipeg on 10 October 2002.
