ABOUT THE BSA CUP (MINIATURE RIFLE CLUBS)
The BSA Cup was a competition run by the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs (SMRC), a British shooting association active from around 1901 until 1947, when it became the National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA) Air Gun Forums. The BSA Cup was a national-level small-bore rifle competition that pitted British counties against Australian states in a match of skill and precision shooting. It was one of the SMRC’s notable events, alongside other national trophies like the Lord Roberts Cup and the Bell Trophy Rifleman UK.
Prizes and Ceremonial Items
The SMRC often awarded ceramic and silver prizes for its competitions, including the BSA Cup. These could be:
Royal Doulton or Langley Mill Pottery cups (tankards, jugs, beakers)
Sterling silver spoons and other silverware
Electroplated or decorative crockery such as teapots, ashtrays, and mugs Rifleman
BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Company) manufactured some of these prize items, and they were sometimes sold to proven winners as a physical reminder of their success, requiring a prize certificate for purchaseCreated By
