Scope and Content

2019 - 28 May - CGG Officers Tan Beret - unnamed and unattributed per Canada Dress instructions | Chapter 5 Orders of dress Section 1 NOTIFICATION OF NEW TAN BERETS FOR GUARDS UNITS (By Capt. Bill Samakis, CD) "In the past few years, there has been a push to return regimental orders of dress and regimental distinctions, all with public funding. As part of this many units and corps have looked back to what they used to wear prior to unification of the CAF in the late 60s. One example of this is the Artillery, Communications and RCEME corps will be returning to a dark blue beret which they wore prior to unification, rather than the rifle green beret most of us wear today. The unit, along with the GGFG, then looked back at our history to see what colour of beret we should be wearing as rifle green is meant to be worn by Rifle regiments, not guards. The result was there was no single beret colour that we wore for any significant amount of time so the decision was made to adopt the same colour as our sister regiments in the UK, which is Khaki. Serving members have been instructed to go on Logistiks Unicorp and a new beret will automatically be added to their next order, and the beret will be delivered to your home sometime in March. It will come with the Brigade patch pre-sewn. For those members serving outside the unit, we have made an effort to get your account setup to do this. If you do not get this option when logging into Logistiks, let me know and we can get it setup for you. The unit will have an official change over parade which is currently scheduled for May 28th for both units."
