ABOUT THE FLAG PARTY (2025)
"Dear Regimental family,
I had the honour of commanding the flag party, representing the Regiment and our great nation during tonight’s NHL all star matchup against our esteemed southern neighbours. As I also manage the official regimental social media accounts I have to say that I was overwhelmed with messages of support from across Canada, to the point where I had to go find an external battery pack and phone charger to keep up with all the messages flooding in!
Although a Flag Party is usually staffed by Senior NCOs, MCpl Galavis and MCpl Karamanos really stepped up and rose to the challenge of learning flag drill and adapting to changes outside of our control once we made first contact with the enemy, which in this case was the extremely restrictive carpets on the ice and having to convince the organizers that Guards Regiments do something called a “left in” when marking time.
Bravo Zulu to the MCpls and and big thanks to all of you shouting “Up the Guards” in your living rooms! What a historic moment for the Regiment." -Sgt Washburn
NHL NEW ALL_STAR GAME FORMAT
The 2025 NHL All-Star Game was cancelled and replaced by the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament featuring NHL players from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States.
In 2025, the NHL decided not to hold its traditional All-Star Game. Instead, the league introduced the 4 Nations Face-Off, an international-style tournament held from February 12 to 20, 2025, at the Bell Centre in Montreal and TD Garden in Boston. This event temporarily replaced the All-Star Game to accommodate scheduling adjustments and to prepare NHL players for participation in the 2026 Winter OlympicsCreated By
