Context
Arthur Henry McCleave (McCLeane) was born February 3rd, 1850 at St. Helen's Island, Montreal Quebec. His father (Henry McCleave) was a Corporal in the Royal Artillery garrisoned in the Fort on St. Helen's Island, and his Grandfather was also in the Royal Artillery. He was 16 when he enlisted in 1866 during the 1st Fenian Raid and was 20 when he served in 1870 during the 2nd Fenian Raid. He would later graduate from Molson's College, marrying in 1873 and having 8 children, and was employed by the Grand Trunk Railway Co in Montreal until his death in 1904, age 54.
