Context
Angus McLean Gilday graduated in Chemical Engineering, McGill University in 1937. Prior to WWII, he was a Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards. Subsequently he taught navigation as a Flight Lieutenant in the RCAF during WWII. He was president of the Irish Protestant Benevolent Society in 1956 and was Grand Marshall of 2004's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Montreal.

This Silver cigarette case was presented to Lieutenant Angus McLean GILDAY (1915-2004) who was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Archibald Lorne Campbell Gilday and a member of 2nd Battalion CGG with Regiment, before transferring the the RCAF during WWII.
LCol Thomas Pope GILDAY, DSO, MID, ED, (1910-2001) was a distinguished member of our unit from 1932-1940 later to become one of the founding members and a Battalion Commander (1st Bn, 3rd Regiment of The First Special Service Force - “Devils Brigade”).
