Description

A 17-inch-long strip of Fabriano paper, corrugated and glued at the ends to form a perfect circumference. Corrugation is a technique where the paper’s surface remains fully visible in the final piece, without any stacked layers. This approach highlights the paper itself, offering the designer a chance to emphasize its natural qualities and play with light and shadows. Context

Between 2012 and 2016, this model went on a four-year journey with "Folding Paper: The Infinite Possibilities of Origami". Organized by International Arts & Artists, it became one of its most successful traveling exhibitions, welcomed by museums and libraries across the United States. To build on the legacy of the project, co-curator Meher McArthur proposed that, at the end of the tour, a version of it find a permanent home at the Museo del Origami, which, at that time, was still under construction in Uruguay. As a result, many of the works from the exhibition were generously donated by the artists and became the foundation of the museum’s collection.

Notes

About the Artist: With a background in law and a deep passion for art, Andrea Russo (b. 1981, Italian) explores origami through tessellations and abstract sculptures. Instead of following traditional forms, he focuses on geometric patterns, using both straight lines and curves to discover new visual concepts. His work has led to collaborations with designers and architects and has been exhibited in museums and private galleries. (Source: Meher McArthur and Robert J.
