Ilan Garibi is one of the most active and creative origami artists on the contemporary scene. In addition to working with paper, he explores other materials and has received commissions to decorate hotels and design jewellery. He also organises large-scale events, such as multi-day origami marathons held over Zoom. In this case, the Origami Museum invited Ilan to recreate Satoshi Kamiya’s famous lion using different types of paper. The pieces are displayed in a glass case, demonstrating how the choice of paper is a crucial decision the artist must make before beginning to fold, ensuring that the final model has the desired volume and character.Artwork Details
